ABOUT Het Apeldoornsche Bosch

During the night of 21 to 22 January 1943, the occupying forces brutally evacuated Het Apeldoornsche Bosch. More than 1,100 patients and staff members were deported to Auschwitz, where they were murdered. On 22 January and 1 February, a further 282 people, including five pregnant women, were transported to Westerbork. Ultimately, from these two transports only 21 people survived the war.
