Apeldoorn and the war
At the initiative of the Rotary Club Apeldoorn-Zuid, Apeldoorn Monument is published in 1990. It is the first book about Apeldoorn’s war and resistance monuments. Fifteen years on, the book is sold out and the number of memorials has doubled.
Stichting Bevrijding ’45 decides to publish Apeldoorn ’40-’45. This book forms the basis for the website www.apeldoornendeoorlog.nl. On the pages Monuments and Memorials, people can find the stories behind the monuments, grouped along six themes: Persecution of the Jews, Resistance, Reign of Terror and Forced Labour, Foreign Soldiers, Liberation, and Special Monuments. A lot of the monuments have been adopted by schools.
www.apeldoornendeoorlog.nl/jij-en-de-oorlog is specifically aimed at children, adolescents and schools.
